Man Ray may have wanted his audience to see how women were portrayed in the 1920’s. This image makes me wonder what inspired Man Ray to create this. ![]() Living in the early 1900’s was extremely different to modern day. This photo is rather interesting to me, it makes me feel confused. It seems like the light is coming from the left side of the photo. This photo looks like natural lighting was used due to the shadow on the right side of the image. The image is in black and white rather than colour as it was taken in the 1920’s a time when coloured photography was not very easy or popular. Photo of a woman’s back and it appears to have the f-holes from a violin on her back. This image is called “ Le Violon d’Ingres” and was created by the artist Man Ray. How does this inspire you to create your own piece?Īre there any techniques this artist used that you would like to try? Does the artist’s work relate to your theme? What is taking place in this photo? What is the subject of the image? Is the photo in black and white or colour? Do you think the artist used natural or artificial lighting when taking the photo? It’s very important to show the examiner that you understand what the artist is trying to tell their audience. When annotating other artist’s photographs:Īnnotating other artists images is often used during your research. Here is a list of things to remember to include when annotating. Weak annotation will pull down your grades regardless of how good your photographs are. Whether is be art or photography, every piece should be well annotated to make sure you grab as many marks as possible. When you are doing a creative course, annotation is just as important as the pieces you create.
